Florida Learjet Co-Pilot's Stepfather Says Daughter Is 'Under the Ground With That Airplane' After Crash
The stepfather of Florida Learjet co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras said his family is in “anguish” after the 20-year-old died in a crash in Palm Beach County on Sunday, 1 November 2026. Thiago Corteleti told The Wall Street Journal on Monday, 2 November, that his daughter is “under the ground with that airplane,” adding this was not an official account of recovery details. The Learjet 60 departed Austin, Texas, for North Eleuthera in the Bahamas and crashed into a roadway, creating a crater; all nine aboard died, including captain Jeff Gregory, 55. The NTSB said on 5 November that excavation and wreckage recovery were continuing. Investigators are examining whether ice, weather, or another factor contributed to loss of control, with NTSB member Tom Chapman saying evidence suggests the Learjet began breaking apart before impact.
