German investigators have discovered a third drone and suspected explosives linked to an attempted attack on the Leipzig/Halle airport this month, according to NDR and WDR and Sueddeutsche Zeitung. The drone was found on August 14, 10 days after the incident, west of the airport. Investigators also reported finding about 50 grams (1.8 oz) of a substance they believe could be the military explosive hexogen at the site. The prosecutor general’s office did not immediately respond to Reuters. Security sources cited in the reports suspect Russian intelligence involvement, an allegation Moscow denies. Separately, on August 4, an explosives-laden drone was found near a Ukrainian Antonov cargo aircraft used for military supplies, and investigators suspect a second drone may have collided with a DHL plane after a temporary airport shutdown.
