Good health and recovering well": Indian envoy Deepak Mittal visits flydubai pilot Capt Machchhar at UAE hospital
An Indian envoy visited Captain Smit Machchhar at a hospital in the UAE on October 1, saying the flydubai pilot is out of danger and recovering after stabbing wounds during a cockpit attack by his co-pilot. The update came from the Indian Embassy, which reported that Ambassador Deepak Mittal met Machchhar and his family and confirmed he is in “good health” under advanced medical supervision. The embassy said Indian authorities are coordinating with local counterparts to ensure continued treatment. Machchhar, who unlocked the cockpit door while fighting to survive, helped crew and passengers intervene, disarm the attacker, and land safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia, saving 174 lives. The article also reiterates that he was later airlifted to Abu Dhabi for specialized care.
