Halftime analysis: Late score, fourth-down gamble put Lions in front of Jets

A late first-half kickoff return and a fourth-down conversion helped the Detroit Lions take a 10-7 lead over the New York Jets in Week 3 at Ford Field. After the Jets went up 7-3 midway through the second quarter, Jacob Saylors returned the ensuing kickoff 43 yards near midfield. Detroit then kept the offense on the field on fourth-and-2 from the 9-yard line, when Jared Goff connected with Isaac TeSlaa. Two plays later, Goff found Amon-Ra St. Brown for a 4-yard touchdown on a fade route, St. Brown’s fifth score of the season, leaving Detroit ahead with 1:36 remaining. Geno Smith was 14-of-17 for 122 yards with one touchdown by halftime, while Goff was 15-of-22 for 117 yards and the score.
