Holiday flight makes emergency landing at Scots airport over 'disruptive' passenger

A Jet2 holiday flight from Edinburgh made a quick in-air U-turn shortly after departure on Wednesday and returned for an emergency landing following reports of a disruptive passenger, according to police and airline statements. The flight to Cyprus was met by police and emergency services. The Scottish Sun reported that an “aggressive” passenger confronted staff mid-flight, prompting the return. A 32-year-old man was arrested on the ground and charged with assault and endangering an aircraft. Jet2.com said it has a “zero-tolerance” approach to disruptive behaviour and that it will seek appropriate action, including through courts, and recover costs where necessary. Police Scotland said officers received the report at around 4:30pm, 23 September 2026.
