Iberia To Begin Airbus A350 Base Maintenance | Aviation Week

Iberia Maintenance received authorization from Spain’s aviation safety agency (AESA) to conduct comprehensive base maintenance on the Airbus A350 without limitations. The first A350 for base maintenance is scheduled to arrive at Iberia’s La Munoza MRO center near Madrid on Sept. 26, following an approval process that took two years and involved more than 150 action lines covering training, engineering, production, infrastructure, and documentation. AESA audited Iberia Maintenance’s processes at the end of August and found no issues. The investment is about €8 million ($8.48 million), the first time Iberia Maintenance sought approval for a new aircraft type in maintenance without restrictions. The initial check will be a C-Check, taking about 15 days; Iberia expects five or six A350 checks this year.
