Irish aircraft leasing company AerCap has ordered 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner planes

AerCap, the Dublin-headquartered aircraft leasing company, has ordered 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, a deal intended to raise its long-haul fleet to around 140 aircraft. The agreement calls for deliveries through 2033 and includes an option to shift some of the order to the larger Boeing 787-10 if customer requirements change. AerCap selected GE Aerospace’s GEnx-1B engines to power the 787s, described as designed for medium-capacity wide-body aircraft such as the Dreamliner. The lessor serves about 300 customers and leases aircraft to airlines worldwide. CEO Aengus Kelly said the order strengthens AerCap’s position as the world’s largest owner of 787 aircraft and supports continued access for customers to a versatile aircraft family. The U.S. ambassador to Ireland, Edward Walsh, framed the move as evidence of the economic relationship between the United States and Ireland and praised aerospace innovation.
