Jets Eyeing Former Rams Kicker in Free Agency After Claiming Blake Grupe

The New York Jets have penciled in Blake Grupe as their starting kicker after claiming him off waivers earlier this week, but they’re not ready to fully trust the spot. Because Grupe became available after being released by the Indianapolis Colts, New York is still searching for depth behind him. That has led the Jets to former Los Angeles Rams kicker Joshua Karty, who worked out with the team on Wednesday. Karty was the Rams’ 2024 sixth-round pick, making 29 of 34 field goals and 32 of 36 extra points as a rookie, but he fell off sharply in 2025. With no room for two kickers on the 53-man roster, any Karty move would likely start on the practice squad.
