Jets Have a Plan for Jeffery Simmons Problem vs. Titans in Week 1

The New York Jets’ Week 1 matchup with the Tennessee Titans centers on one recurring threat: Jeffery Simmons. The 29-year-old defensive tackle was drafted 19th overall in 2019 and has earned four Pro Bowl selections, including first-team All-Pro honors last season after a career-high 11 sacks. Under new Jets head coach Robert Saleh, New York runs a heavy-pressure front intended to attack upfield, and Jets coach Aaron Glenn said the team has “practiced it all week” for what Simmons brings. Pro Football Focus ranked Simmons third among interior defensive linemen in 2025, where he posted 91.4 as a pass rusher. The Jets say their focus can’t be limited to scheme alone.
