Joby Aviation, Toyota Launch Initial Phase of Manufacturing Alliance
Joby Aviation and Toyota are moving to a manufacturing partnership aimed at advancing air mobility. The companies said they are working to establish a joint venture, combining Joby’s work in electric aviation with Toyota Motor’s experience in production systems and operational excellence. In the initial phase, the alliance will focus on laying the groundwork for commercial production, emphasizing improvements in productivity, quality, and cost. After that phase, it is intended to support expansion of Joby’s production capacity to back aircraft certification and meet anticipated growth in demand for its electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. The companies described the effort as an early step toward scaling manufacturing. The announcement was carried by Dow Jones Newswires on June 30, 2026.
