Key executives running Berkshire Hathaway's $1 trillion empire

Warren Buffett has stepped down as chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, handing the top role to his son Howard and completing a leadership handover that began with Greg Abel becoming CEO earlier this year. The change comes as investors look for direction for the conglomerate, now valued at more than $1 trillion. Abel, 64, oversees Berkshire’s non-insurance businesses and previously led MidAmerican Energy—acquired in 2000—into one of the largest power providers in the central and western U.S. Howard Buffett, 71, has served on the board since 1993. Ajit Jain runs Berkshire’s insurance operations and has led major reinsurance growth since 1986.
