Least three killed in Pakistani airstrikes on Afghanistan, officials say

At least three people were killed in Pakistani airstrikes on northeastern Afghanistan on Monday, Afghan officials said, threatening to revive tensions between the neighbours after nearly three months of relative calm. Relations have been strained since February, when the two sides fought their worst clashes in years. Islamabad accuses Kabul of sheltering militants who carry out cross-border attacks; Afghanistan’s Taliban government denies the claim, saying militancy is Pakistan’s internal issue. The strikes included an incident in Kunar province where, according to Taliban deputy spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat, a house was hit, killing three family members and injuring four others. Pakistan’s military did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
