LeBron James' unusual 76ers commute has everyone talking. Here's what he says
LeBron James addressed the attention surrounding his commute between New York and Philadelphia with a straightforward explanation after the 76ers’ preseason finale Friday. Asked about traveling by helicopter, James said he has “done it before” and described it as “just another way of transportation,” according to ESPN reporter Kris Rhim. The trip typically takes about 30 to 45 minutes by air, far faster than driving. Front Office Sports reported James also gets access to Fanatics’ corporate aviation through his endorsement agreement with the company, which traces back to a trading-card partnership from 2024. Comparable helicopter trips were reported to cost $4,000 to $10,000 each way. James, 41, joined Philadelphia on a reported two-year, $8 million deal in July. The Sixers open the regular season Tuesday at Madison Square Garden versus the Knicks.
