Lessor Avolon to acquire batch of A321neos ordered by Frontier

Lessor Avolon said it will acquire a batch of 11 Airbus A321neo twinjets currently ordered by US low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines. The agreement, signed on June 30, is described by Avolon’s parent, Bohai Leasing, as a way to strengthen its aircraft-order backlog and improve the lessor’s competitiveness. Bohai values the aircraft at $1.4 billion using 2018 catalogue prices, while noting the final value depends on the deal’s terms. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2026 and run through June 2027. Airbus backlog figures through May show Frontier has 198 A321neos on order, including 56 already delivered, providing context for how the new acquisition fits into the airline’s fleet ramp-up.
