Libya says international aviation restrictions lifted after 11 years
xCruzo Brief
Libya’s Ministry of Transport said Monday that airspace restrictions imposed by the UN’s International Civil Aviation Organization in 2015 during the country’s civil war have been removed. The decision was formally issued on October 23 and was announced by ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar at the opening of a Middle East civil aviation officials meeting in Doha. The ministry did not provide further details on any remaining regulatory steps, but the change marks an administrative easing after more than a decade of limitations. For Libya, lifting the ICAO restrictions could support broader connectivity and normalization of civil aviation operations in the country.
