Long-serving ex-Loganair boss has aircraft named after him

A long-serving former Loganair boss, Scott Grier, has had an aircraft named after him in recognition of decades of growth at the Scottish regional carrier. Grier spent 36 years at Loganair, expanding it from five aircraft and 44 staff to the UK’s largest regional airline. He joined in 1976 as financial manager, became managing director in 1983, and led a management buyout in 1997, later remaining chairman and largest shareholder before selling his stake to brothers Stephen and Peter Bond. Over 15 years, turnover rose from about £5 million to £72.6 million and annual passenger numbers climbed from around 50,000 to more than 527,000. At a ceremony at Glasgow Airport, chief executive Luke Farajallah praised his impact as the ATR-72 will operate across Loganair’s network.
