Lost Our Right Engine": Coast Guard Gulfstream Carrying DHS Chief Mullin Declares DCA Emergency
A U.S. Coast Guard Gulfstream G550 carrying DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin declared an emergency Wednesday afternoon after suffering an in-flight right engine failure. The aircraft, operating as the military C-37A under the call sign C101, diverted to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Before requesting an immediate landing, one pilot told air traffic control, “we just lost our right engine.” The jet landed safely as Airports Authority Fire and Rescue inspected it afterward, and no injuries were reported. Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said the crew reported the issue around 1:35 p.m. ET and there was no disruption to other flights. The incident marks the second Reagan National government-aircraft event in a month.
