Lufthansa's 1st A350-1000, 700th Airbus Jet Arrives With Striking 100 Years Livery
Lufthansa took delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000, a milestone that also marks the 700th Airbus aircraft delivered to the Lufthansa Group. The airline said the largest twin-engine aircraft in its fleet will remain in Toulouse for test flights, final cabin preparations and acceptance inspections before being transferred to its Munich base later this year. Lufthansa scheduled an official naming ceremony, where the plane will receive the name “Deutschland” and registration D-AIFA. The A350-1000 is 73.8 meters long with a 64.8-meter wingspan and Airbus lists a maximum range of 9,100 nautical miles (16,900 km), carrying 350 to 410 passengers in a typical three-class configuration. Lufthansa expects fleet renewal to add more than 250 new aircraft across the group by the end of the decade, and the carrier has ordered 15 A350-1000s plus additional A350-900s, 787-9s and 777-9s. The delivery also reflects a relationship with Airbus spanning more than four decades.
