Magnaghi Group launches MagChain for aircraft component traceability
Magnaghi Aerospace Group has launched MagChain, a company developing blockchain-based software to verify manufacturing and inspection records for aircraft components. Based in Naples, Italy, MagChain is majority-owned by Magnaghi Group and uses the Industrial Trust Layer (ITL) platform to link individual parts to their production documentation through each component’s identification plate. After quality control teams review records, ITL creates a blockchain entry showing whether documents changed, with users able to scan a QR code to confirm the component and the approved version. MagChain has already applied the system to structural parts made by Salver S.p.A. for a civil transport aircraft, and plans demonstrations at MRO Europe in Amsterdam on October 27–29.
