Loganair, a major UK airline, will cut flights to three destinations later this month due to financial pressures tied to aviation costs. The regional carrier currently serves UK and France routes including Paris, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, but says it can no longer maintain its existing level of service “without impacting the wider business.” From July 19, Loganair will reduce flights between Inverness and Stornoway, Orkney and Shetland. While there are daily services to Orkney (Kirkwall) and Shetland (Sumburgh), and a regular service to Stornoway, connections will shift to Saturdays and Sundays only from July. Chief executive Luke Farajallah cited higher fuel prices, aircraft repair costs, airport fees and route charges. Hial, owned by the Scottish government, has offered a support package, contingent on being affordable. Full services could resume in October if more funding is secured. The decision follows similar 2026 cuts by British Airways, Ryanair and Aer Lingus.
