Major US airlines recovering after technology issues caused problems
United Airlines and Delta Air Lines said they are recovering after a technology issue Monday disrupted travel and airline digital services. Passengers reported delays when trying to board aircraft, and both carriers’ websites and apps intermittently failed at times. On Tuesday afternoon, United’s app and website notified users that the airline was “working to fix a temporary technical issue” affecting united.com and the United app. In a statement, United said the problem was linked to a vendor and prevented customers from logging into MileagePlus accounts, adding that it was resolved and had no impact on flight operations. Delta confirmed it was dealing with a limited global technology issue affecting data connectivity behind the scenes, with systems stabilizing by Tuesday. Down Detector also indicated American Airlines’ website and app had issues, but American did not respond to CNN’s request for comment. The report cites prior outages from IT connectivity failures and a 2024 CrowdStrike-linked Windows update that affected many businesses.
