Malawi’s Queens netball team has boarded a flight to Nairobi for the African Netball Cup, which also serves as a qualifier for the Netball World Cup. Wing attacker Thandi Galeta received a surprise recall after being left out of the squad that travelled to the Commonwealth Games in Scotland. Alongside Galeta, the 15-player team includes new additions Prisca Banda, Mphatso Kanyimbo and Chimwemwe Dzanja. The squad was unveiled by expatriate coach Debbie Fuller during a send-off event at Queens House in Blantyre’s Namiwawa Township, supported by sponsor Nico Holdings plc. The Queens, ranked eighth worldwide after a rise in the World Netball Rankings, will be led in Nairobi by Mwawi Kumwenda-M’bwana, with Takondwa Lwazi and Tendai Masamba also among the key players.
