Man's body found along Lake Erie shoreline in Lawrence Park Township

A man’s body was recovered from the Lake Erie shoreline in Lawrence Park Township, Erie County, after two people on jet skis found the body on July 19. Police Chief John Morell said the discovery was reported at 5:07 p.m. and that Lawrence Park police responded and retrieved the man just east of the Lawrence Park Fishing Club on July 20. Authorities said information, including possible identity, was not immediately available from the Erie County Coroner’s Office. The body discovery came about 10 days after a 48-year-old man who went fishing alone was reported missing; a 19-foot boat with one person aboard was reported overdue on July 9 and not answering phone contact. The Coast Guard searched 2,756 square nautical miles over 60 hours using boats and helicopters, and suspended the search on July 10.
