Moscow refinery supplying 50% of region's diesel hit by drones

Drones strike Moscow's Kapotnya refinery, highlighting vulnerabilities in the capital's fuel infrastructure. On 18 June 2026, the attack ignited a large fire at a facility about 15 kilometers from the Kremlin, the second strike in 48 hours after damage to the ELOU-AVT-6 unit on 16 June. Authorities say 43 drones were shot down. The refinery supplies roughly 40% of the Moscow region's gasoline and 50% of its diesel, and it also provides aviation fuel.
