Multiple U.S. military aircraft were damaged during Iranian strikes on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, sources told CBS News. The damage occurred overnight Tuesday into Wednesday local time. An A-10 Thunderbolt, known as the Warthog, was hit and lost a wing, while roughly eight F-15s suffered light damage and were reportedly returned to service. No U.S. deaths were reported. The strikes followed a U.S. attack on five Iranian tankers on Tuesday, which the U.S. said was retaliation for Iran targeting a U.S. Navy warship. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed attacks on eight tankers and two warships, including the Jordan base. U.S. forces in Jordan launched more than 30 Patriot missiles to defend.
