Iran’s strikes on more than two dozen U.S. bases in the Middle East targeted early-warning systems before hitting aircraft and buildings, according to an AP summary. The Associated Press said it independently verified damage using satellite imagery from multiple sources and spoke with four regional officials briefed on or with firsthand knowledge of what was struck. Through August, the AP found more than 115 drone or missile strikes attributed to Iran or Iranian-backed militias damaged or destroyed structures on 26 military bases and other sites containing U.S. equipment. The report says Iran primarily went after systems that detect incoming attacks and aircraft hangars, clearing the way for follow-on strikes on warehouses and troop housing.
