Nigel Farage accused of under-declaring value of private jet loan from crypto billionaire

Anna Turley has written to Reform UK's leader seeking a full explanation after Farage declared the gift as £25,000, up from £12,500. Turley argues the market rate for private jet hire is $11,500 per hour, and the flight to Mauritius lasted 23 hours with the jet at Farage's disposal for two and a half days, suggesting a value between $250,000 and $700,000. She says the declared amount bears little relation to private-jet charter prices. Farage portrayed the trip as part of a failed plan to visit the Chagos Islands.

The controversy sits alongside a Westminster standards watchdog probe into a separate £5 million donation Harborne made to Farage, which he described as a personal gift for security. Farage has framed the money as personal and linked to his Brexit campaigning, while supporters stress transparency. Harborne’s gifts to Reform UK have drawn attention, including £9 million last August and a further £3 million this year. Reports also raised that Farage bought a £1.4 million cash house in 2024 shortly after receiving the gift. Reform UK was contacted for comment.
