Nigeria military plane crash: Bola Tinubu declares three days of mourning as 32 killed
Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu declared three days of national mourning after a military aircraft crash in southern Ondo State killed 32 people. Authorities said the plane was on a routine mission from Benin City to Lagos and came down near a naval base on Monday morning. Tinubu offered condolences for 25 passengers and seven crew members and ordered a full investigation, also directing national flags to fly at half-mast. Nigeria’s aviation minister, Festus Keyamo, said he was informed of the disappearance of a military aircraft with tail number NGR 931, en route from Benin to Lagos at 0913 hours, before confirmation of the crash near Igbokoda in Ondo. The ATR-42 was described as carrying between 30 and 50 passengers. Search and rescue continued as identities were withheld.
