Novice Argentinian pilot forced to land plane after instructor jumps out
A novice Argentinian pilot was forced to make an emergency landing after her flight instructor jumped out of the aircraft during a training session. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon in Argentina’s Cordoba province, during a lesson flight in a Cessna C-150 with instructor Leandro Bertazzo, 42, and a 22-year-old student pilot. Bertazzo reportedly removed his headphones, collected his belongings from the cockpit, opened the door, and jumped out. Alone in the cockpit, the student radioed the tower, reported the emergency, and returned to Coronel Olmedo Airport, where she landed without assistance. Eduardo Alvarez, director of Flying Parrot Cordoba, said she remained professional despite being shaken. Authorities are investigating, including whether the plane’s hatch may have been faulty, and reviewing flight logs and communications. Bertazzo’s body was later found nearby.
