Official: Orlando Pirates outcast Mbule moves overseas
Orlando Pirates outcast Sipho Mbule has moved overseas after Zakho FC officially confirmed his signing for the 2026/27 Iraq Stars League season. The 27-year-old midfielder became a free agent when the Buccaneers chose not to activate a two-year extension option following the 2025/26 campaign. Zakho, based in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, said Mbule has signed for their squad and highlighted his speed and football intelligence as key qualities. The club finished third in the Iraq Stars League in 2024/25, reached the Iraq FA Cup final, and plays at the 20,000-capacity Zakho International Stadium. Mbule previously had a one-year deal at Orlando Pirates, making 23 appearances in all competitions in the first half of that season, winning a domestic treble.
