Over 1,059 flights delayed, 58 canceled amid widespread U.S. travel disruptions
Widespread U.S. travel disruptions caused major numbers of delays and cancellations Thursday. As of 10:04 a.m. EST, FlightAware reported at least 1,059 delays into or out of the United States, along with more than 10,803 worldwide. The tracker also said 58 U.S. flights were canceled, versus 599 worldwide. The FAA cited weather as a key driver: winds affecting Boston (BOS) and New York airports including JFK, LGA and EWR, thunderstorms in Phoenix (PHX), and rain in San Francisco (SFO), Los Angeles (LAX), San Diego (SAN) and Las Vegas (LAS). Low clouds in Seattle (SEA) could also disrupt operations. The report advised passengers to monitor flight status via airlines’ sites or apps, rebook quickly if canceled, and prepare for possible extra time on connections.
