Pakistan extends ban on Indian aircraft using its airspace until Nov 24
Pakistan extended its airspace ban on Indian aircraft for another month, according to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority. The restriction, originally set to expire Oct. 24, will remain in effect until Nov. 24. The NOTAM says Pakistan airspace is unavailable for Indian-registered aircraft and for aircraft operated, owned, or leased by Indian airlines, including military flights. The update took effect at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday and runs until 4:59 a.m. on Nov. 24, 2026. It applies to both the Karachi (OPKR) and Lahore (OPLR) flight information regions. The ban followed escalating tensions after an attack in India-occupied Kashmir’s Pahalgam in April 2025 and has been repeatedly extended. Air India estimates Pakistan route closures could add up to three hours and raise fuel costs by as much as 29%, cutting annual profit before tax by about US$455 million.
