Passenger partly sucked out of window soon after takeoff from Greece but others pull him back in
A Ryanair flight departing Greece for Germany experienced a serious cabin incident shortly after takeoff on Friday, when a passenger was partially sucked out through a window, and nearby travelers pulled him back inside. The Morning flight from Thessaloniki to Memmingen, near Munich, was operated by Ryanair subsidiary Malta Air. Ryanair said the aircraft returned to Thessaloniki shortly after takeoff when a passenger window dislodged in-flight, and it landed normally with passengers returning to the terminal; one passenger received medical assistance on the ground, and a replacement aircraft was later arranged. A Greek hospital official reported the injured passenger, 61, had neck and shoulder injuries and friction burns. Witnesses described a loud bang, oxygen masks dropping, and a loss of altitude. Flight records for the Boeing 737-800 show climb past 15,000 feet before an immediate descent to about 6,000 feet before returning after roughly an hour.
