Passengers hold on to man partly out of plane window
Passengers helped prevent a passenger from being fully pulled out after a window dislodged shortly after takeoff on a flight from northern Greece to Germany. The incident occurred on a morning route from Thessaloniki to Memmingen, operated by Malta Air, a subsidiary of Ryanair, Europe's largest budget carrier. Ryanair said the flight returned to Thessaloniki shortly after takeoff when a passenger window came loose. A 61-year-old passenger suffered neck and shoulder injuries and friction burns, according to a Greek hospital official, and Greek media reported a loud bang, oxygen masks dropping, and a loss of altitude. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board said it was notified that the return was due to a right engine issue and cabin decompression. Videos shared locally showed passengers wearing oxygen masks and first responders after landing. The NTSB probe will be led by North Macedonia’s accident investigation committee due to the airspace where it occurred.
