Pilot accused of flying low over National Wallace Monument
A pilot accused of flying low over the National Wallace Monument appeared in Stirling court charged with operating an unregistered aircraft under 500 ft (152 m) above the site. William Anderson, 66, of Bo’ness, is also alleged to have flown recklessly at about 20 ft (6 m) above Culross Pier in Fife, including over a footpath where adults and children were nearby. Prosecutors say the offences occurred between August 2023 and May 2024. The case was continued to 28 July at Stirling Sheriff Court, and Anderson made no plea. Additional allegations include flying over an oil tanker in the Firth of Forth and entering Edinburgh Airport controlled airspace without clearance. His solicitor, Alastair Ross, requested a debate on whether some video evidence is admissible, and bail was continued.
