The NTSB said the Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 cargo plane that crashed in Miami on Sunday was continued on approach despite multiple warnings. In a cockpit voice recording released in an investigative update Wednesday, one pilot cautioned they were flying “too fast” just over a minute before touchdown on a runway they overran. Automated alerts sounded, including repeated “sink rate sink rate” calls and five warnings of “too low terrain.” The NTSB reported the aircraft descended 400 feet in four seconds at one point. The jet, operated by Miami-based 21 Air, overran the runway by about 1,300 feet and struck two vehicles on the ground, killing five people and injuring another five. Fifteen seconds after touchdown, a pilot called for aborting and throttles increased for go-around thrust, but four seconds later throttles were reduced to idle and no speed brakes or thrust reversers were indicated. Investigators interviewed the crew before releasing details.
