Pilot scrawls 'I'm bored' into UK sky mid-flight

A Ravenair pilot used a two-hour test flight to write “I’m bored” in the sky over the United Kingdom, a message captured by FlightRadar24. The aircraft, a Piper Tomahawk, flew from Liverpool on Saturday morning local time, then passed over towns in the Wirral peninsula and Cheshire before crossing into north Wales. For about 20 minutes, the pilot traced the words in clear loops above the Dee estuary at roughly 1,100 feet (335 meters). Ravenair said the plane was on a test flight after a part was replaced, and that the flight was conducted by a flying instructor in his 20s. Wayne Barrett, operation manager, told the BBC the maneuver was likely a “bit bored” moment but required skill while spelling the message. Barrett said the aircraft returned safely to the hangar and that the pilot was off-duty. The report also referenced a prior similar incident in Austria in 2020.
