Private jet crashes into road & violently explodes in Florida, killing 9 on board
A privately owned Learjet 60, registered as N722BD, crashed into a road in southern Florida on Sunday (1 Nov), killing all nine people on board and leaving a burning crater. The plane departed Austin, Texas, and was heading to the Bahamas, going down around 12:50 p.m. local time (1:50 a.m. on 2 Nov in Singapore) near an intersection in Greenacres. Vehicle dashcam video showed wet roads from rain before the jet appeared in a vertical dive and struck the roadside, exploding on impact with a fireball and scattering debris. US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed the deaths, while the NTSB will investigate. Air traffic recordings indicate turbulence and light clear ice, followed by emergency calls as the aircraft accelerated past limits.
