Qantas to launch world's longest nonstop commercial flight

Qantas plans to launch the world's longest nonstop flight, linking Sydney and London, in October 2027 as part of Project Sunrise. The A350-1000ULR will be configured to carry 238 passengers across four cabins and will feature an extra 20,000-liter fuel tank to fly more than 16,000 kilometers non-stop. Nonstop Sydney-London service will go on sale in February 2027, with operations expected to begin later that year and 12 aircraft scheduled for delivery. The route is expected to cut travel time by up to four hours versus one-stop itineraries, and Qantas foresees expansions to Sydney-New York in the future, citing strong demand for ultra-long-haul travel.
