Qatar Airways reportedly begins freighter flights to Tbilisi
Qatar Airways reportedly begins freighter flights to Tbilisi as Qatar Airways Cargo reportedly operated its first scheduled freighter flight to Tbilisi, Georgia. The service is described as a weekly round-trip on a Doha–Yerevan–Tbilisi–Doha route, using Boeing 777 freighters, according to News Georgia. Georgia’s Ministry of Economy says the airline received a permit from the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency, though Qatar Airways told Air Cargo News it could not comment on the new route at the time of reporting. The article notes that Qatar Airways Cargo previously announced cargo flights to Tbilisi as far back as 2013, when an Airbus A330 freighter was planned to serve the city once weekly. It also references a May announcement of a 12% increase in cargo capacity via new freighter destinations and additional belly space on passenger flights. In 2025, Georgia recorded 38,578 tons of air cargo volume, an all-time high for its airports.
