Quiet N.J. farm witnessed history on 9/11 -- and now it's being transformed into a memorial

A secluded 58-acre farm site in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, is being converted into a permanent 9/11 memorial ahead of the 25th anniversary. Hilltop Preserve in Raritan Township, about 700 feet above sea level, offered a view of smoke rising more than 45 miles away from the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001, according to Sheriff Fred Brown. A portion of the active farm will honor the 15 Hunterdon County residents killed in the attacks, with a plaque on a large stone. Visitors will also see a pentagon-shaped flower bed for the Pentagon, two World Trade Center trees, and native plants tied to Flight 93’s crash site. The memorial dedication is set for Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m.
