RAF pauses Hawk jet training after pilots ejected moments before crash

The RAF has “temporarily paused” high-speed Hawk fighter jet training after two pilots ejected moments before a Hawk T2 crashed near Pencarnisiog on Anglesey, narrowly missing homes. The aircraft had been flying from RAF Valley when it plummeted to the ground. The pilots were taken for treatment for injuries, described as minor. On Wednesday evening, the RAF said Hawk operations were paused as a precaution while investigations continue. The Hawk T1 and newer T2 variants are transonic, two-seat training aircraft used to train fast-jet pilots; the Red Arrows’ Hawk T1 flying has also been paused, though it was due not to resume until the weekend. Authorities asked the public to avoid the area.
