Retailers running low on USMNT jerseys in repeat of Olympic hockey supply issue
Retailers are running low on U.S. men’s national team jerseys as Americans look to buy ahead of the World Cup knockout stage, repeating an earlier merchandise shortage seen in Olympic hockey. Multiple major sellers—including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Fanatics, Soccer.com, and the official U.S. Soccer store—show limited availability, especially for the popular red-striped home shirt. An unnamed sportswear retail executive told The Athletic that supplies could run out within days, citing retailers’ repeated requests for additional production well before major events. As of Friday morning on Nike’s site, the home jersey appears only in some player-specific versions, with limited youth and adult sizes, while the away shirt is sold out in adult sizes. U.S. Soccer says early sales in March were record-breaking, and e-commerce sales have doubled those from the 2022 group stage.
