Romanian F-16 fighter jets open fire on attack drones spotted over Europe - AOL
xCruzo Brief
Romanian F-16 fighter jets shot down two jet-powered attack drones over the country’s territorial waters, the Romanian Defense Ministry said. The drones were members of Russia’s Geran-family, which has been repeatedly used to strike targets in Ukraine, though Romania did not specify which nation operated them. Radar first detected multiple aerial targets about 120 kilometers (75 miles) east of Snake Island in the Black Sea. Two F-16s were scrambled from Borcea Air Base at 5:43 p.m. local time. The drones were downed between 6:01 p.m. and 6:05 p.m. after spending roughly five minutes inside Romanian airspace.
