RTX’s Pratt & Whitney Canada won a $1 billion contract from V2X to overhaul engines that power the U.S. Joint Primary Aircraft Training System fleet. The nine-year agreement, announced Monday, involves the overhaul of more than 750 PT6A-68 engines used in the T-6 trainer aircraft. V2X, headquartered in Reston, Virginia, is the manager of maintenance and supply for the military’s trainer plane fleet. Work will be carried out at Pratt & Whitney’s plant in Bridgeport, West Virginia, which employs about 500 people. The facility has been maintaining these engines for more than 40 years. The award expands Pratt & Whitney Canada’s presence in long-running training aircraft support, extending the engine overhaul workload across the life of the contract.
