Rubio, Bessent took decoy Air Force One, Hegseth flew on secret flight with Trump
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent were on a decoy flight last month when President Trump secretly took a different plane from the publicly identified Air Force One during a NATO summit, according to sources familiar with the situation. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was also on the secret flight from Turkey, along with White House aides Natalie Harp, Walt Nauta and Dan Scavino. Rubio and Bessent maintained the line of succession and were aware the president was traveling on another aircraft. The decoy flight was publicly labeled Air Force One, while Trump covertly switched with help of a catering truck. The president later said the military and Secret Service decided to send him on a different plane due to an unspecified threat.
