Russian missiles and drones kill 11 and cause damage across Ukraine capital
A large-scale Russian attack on Kyiv early into Thursday killed at least 11 people and damaged buildings and civilian infrastructure across the city, Ukrainian officials said. The assault used ballistic and cruise missiles and drones, with loud explosions shaking Kyiv for hours as residents sought shelter in metro stations after initial warnings issued by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other authorities. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said the strike killed eight people and that, overall, 11 deaths were recorded in Kyiv, while 54 injuries were reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, including two children. Damage was logged at 30 locations, mainly residential buildings and civilian facilities. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha urged allies to strengthen air defenses and criticized any attempts to justify attacks as retaliation. He warned the toll could rise as rescue teams continued work.
