Safespill's ILDFA Recognized in New U.S. Military UFC Aircraft Maintenance Hangar Criteria
Safespill announced that its Ignitable Liquid Drainage Floor Assemblies (ILDFA) are now formally recognized in the U.S. military’s Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC 4-211-01), Aircraft Maintenance Hangars, dated September 30, 2026. The updated framework applies to hangars used by the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Army and Marine Corps, providing a unified design approach. Safespill says ILDFA rapidly removes spilled fuel from hangar floors, preventing large fuel pools and reducing the risk of major pool fires, unlike traditional firefighting foam systems. The company’s founder and CEO Tristan Mackintosh said the recognition supports aircraft readiness while avoiding environmental consequences associated with firefighting foam. Safespill is based in Houston and positions ILDFA as an alternative that avoids PFAS-containing firefighting foams.
