Santa Rosa County awarded $525K grant for Whiting Aviation Park projects

Santa Rosa County, Florida, has been awarded a $525,000 grant to support projects at Whiting Aviation Park. The funding is split between two state programs: $250,000 from the Defense Reinvestment Grant and $275,000 from the Florida Defense Support Commission Grant. County officials said the money will help advance Phase II by funding “data collection, engineering analysis and design” needed to extend Don Salter Boulevard into the Phase II development area. The grant will also finance a land and easement acquisition effort intended to protect Naval Air Station Whiting Field and its Navy Outlying Fields from incompatible development.
