Sen. Jim Justice Failed to Properly Disclose His Massive Wealth
Sen. Jim Justice filed his annual financial disclosure about a month late, failing to meet an Aug. 13 deadline under the Ethics in Government Act. According to The Washington Sun, Justice received two extensions but still missed the final legal requirement. The West Virginia Republican, described as the richest member of the Senate with roughly $1 billion in assets, filed on Tuesday covering 2025 financial activity. His report lists more than a dozen items valued at “over $50,000,000,” limiting how precisely his net worth can be determined. Justice’s liabilities reportedly rose by as little as $25.8 million to as much as $120 million. He faces a potential $200 fine, which the Senate Ethics Committee can waive. The list of lawmakers citing similar disclosure violations includes many representatives.
